An allergy alert has been issued by the Whole Foods Market in Dedham, Massachusetts for its store-produced Yogurt and Granola Parfaits after a customer allergic to almonds became ill after eating the product. The store failed, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), to declare the presence of the almonds in the granola on the product’s labelling.
The “Organic Vanilla Yogurt Strawberries and Granola” single-serve parfaits were packaged and shelved in clear-plastic containers. The labels were stamped with a “Sell by” date between April 2, 2017 and April 11, 2017 and with the PLU number 25826. The containers varied in weight.
The undeclared almonds in the parfaits can pose a life-threatening risk to people who are sensitive to this allergen. Customers should either dispose of the product or return it to the store for a refund.
