Italy: Paolillo at TuttoFood with fennel sorbet

We started 2017 with some news for the fresh produce segment. We introduced the new gold selection six-piece crate - a superior range with six high-quality fennel heads of the same grade, each with its own sticker. We developed it operating a careful selection. It is currently only available in Italy," explains Ciro Paolillo, processing and sales manager and co-founder of Paolillo with his brothers Mariapia e Gennaro.

The crate is convenient, due to its smaller size, and its polypropylene cover makes it stand out in stores. It can be placed in the fridge or used to contain other fruit and vegetables.

But Paolillo's creativity does not stop here. In November 2016, at the Fresh Retailer Show&Conference, the company presented Drink Fennel (side photo), a fennel extract that can be drunk as is, or used as a base for vodka, rum and martini drinks.

In February, it presented its 100% natural smoothie (photo below) at Fruit Logistica. It comes in four flavours (fennel, fennel and green apple, fennel and carrot, fennel and orange) and will become available in June 2017.

The food & beverage international fair organised by Fiera Milano, TuttoFood, was the perfect occasion to introduce the Fennel Sorbet.

"The passion for our job pushes us to experiment. We never stop, we have many ideas and invest resources and energies to improve and promote our products," explains administrative manager Mariapia Paolillo."

They will attend the Milan event between 8th and 11th May 2017 at the APOC stand, the perfect occasion to present the products destined to the national and international markets and learn about commercial trends. Visitors will get the chance to try the new fennel sorbet, developed with ice-cream master Emilio Panzardi.

In 2006, Panzardi opened "Gelateria Emilio" in Maratea (PZ), winner of "3 Coni Gambero Rosso", a prize recognised to the best Italian ice-cream makers according to the "Gelaterie d'Italia 2017" guide and teacher at the Gambero Rosso Food & Wine Academy of City of Taste Naples.

"Guests can try our fennel, fennel and orange and fennel and green apple sorbets, paired off with different sauces developed by master Panzardi and exalted with a spritz of fennel fragrance."
