More pie and tart shells are being recalled in Canada for possible E. coli O121 contamination. This recall is related to the recall of flour for this bacteria. There are illnesses associated with flour, but there are no confirmed illnesses associated with the products in this particular recall.
These products were sold in Ontario at the retail level. They include Briwood Farm Market 10″ pie shells in 2 pieces, sold from March 22, 2017 through April 28, 2017, sold from Briwood Farm Market at 1030 Talbot Street in St. Thomas, Ontario. Also recalled is Lynn’s Bakery & Deli 2″ unsweetened tart shells, sold from December 23, 2016 through April 27, 2017, sold from Lynn’s Bakery & Deli at 2190 Dundas Street in London, Ontario. Unsweetened 2″ tart shells prepared for Apple Valley Foods Corporation in 40 count packages sold from Lenover’s Quality Meats & Seafoods Ltd at 525 Park Avenue East in Chatham, Ontario are being recalled; those were sold from February 10, 2017 through April 27, 2017. Finally, more unsweetened 2″ tart shells in 40 count packages, prepared for Apple Valley Foods Corporation and sold from Lenover’s Quality Meats & Seafood in Chatham are recalled; they were sold from February 8, 2017 through April 27, 2017. If you purchased any of these products, do not eat them, even if you are going to bake them. Cross-contamination can occur between these products and your kitchen. Throw them away in a sealed package or take them back to the place of purchase for a full refund.
