Core Tip: Nature’s Touch Frozen Foods is voluntarily recalling their Frozen Organic Fine Whole Green Beans for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
Nature’s Touch Frozen Foods is voluntarily recalling their Frozen Organic Fine Whole Green Beans for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this issue.

The recalled product is Nature’s Touch Organic Fine Whole Green Beans in 10 ounce (283 gram) packages. The UPC number is 8 73668 00141 8 and the best s before dates are 2017 JUN 04 to 2019 JUN 21. Routine sampling program by the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection found one positive test result in one retail bag of the product.

This product was sold in three retailer’s outlets in Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Virginia. The retailers in those states have been contacted to make sure that the beans have been removed from the stores.

If you bought this product, do not eat it even if you plan to cook it. Cross-contamination between foods is always possible. Throw it away in a sealed or double bagged package, or take it back to the store where you bought it for a full refund.

Then clean out your freezer or refrigerator with a mild bleach solution of 1 tablespoon liquid chlorine bleach to 1 gallon of warm water. This bacteria can grow at refrigerator temperatures and freezing doesn’t kill it. Wash your hands well with soap and water after handling this product.

If you ate these green beans, monitor yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. Those symptoms could include high fever, stiff neck, headache, nausea, and diarrhea. Pregnant women may only experience a mild illness, but this illness can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, and premature labor. If you do feel sick, see your doctor.
