The supermarket chain Morrisons has issued a recall on certain packs of green beans after two customers reportedly found needles hidden inside the vegetables. The recall effects 170g packs of trimmed beans, with the display dates 22 April, 23 April and 24 April 2017.
Morrisons issued the recall stating: "As a precautionary measure, we are recalling the above product as there is a very small risk that some packs may contain pieces of metal.
"We are asking all customers who have bought these Display Until dates of this product not to consume them and to return the product to their nearest Morrisons store where they will receive a full refund.
"We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety."
A Morrisons spokesperson said: “We have been made aware of two incidents involving metal being found in two packets of green beans.
“The health and safety of our customers is our top priority, so as a precaution, we are recalling the products and are continuing with our investigation. The relevant authorities have been informed and we are also talking to the two customers.”
