New clean label solutions from Bunge Loders Croklaan will be on display at IFT18, being held July 16-18 in Chicago. The plant-based oils and fats business of Bunge will showcase BungeMaxx sunflower lecithin and two organic, non-G.M.O. expeller pressed oils.

BungeMaxx acts as a replacement for soybean lecithin in foods and beverages and is available in liquid, powdered and hydrolyzed formats. A Non-GMO Project verified, plant-based ingredient, the sunflower lecithin can be used in a range of applications, which include bakery and icing products.

According to AC Nielsen, non-G.M.O. foods made with lecithin are a $4 billion market with 6% annual growth over the past three years. The ingredient does not require labeling as an allergen in the U.S., allowing manufacturers to offer clean label products that consumers continue to demand.

“Non-G.M.O. is more than a trend, with 39% of US consumers saying non-G.M.O. is an important claim they seek on foods and beverages at retail,” said Mark Stavro, senior director of marketing, Bunge Loders Croklaan. “Our customers want to stay competitive in the non-G.M.O. market, and sunflower lecithin is an excellent opportunity.”

The company has also expanded its Whole Harvest portfolio of organic and non-G.M.O. expeller pressed oils to include Non-GMO Project verified canola and soybean oils to meet food producers’ sourcing requests. Its network of farmers in Manitoba and Saskatchewan grows non-G.M.O. canola while farmers in Indiana, Ohio and Michigan supply non-G.M.O. soy.

“By focusing on our customers’ needs and creating together with them, we can help position them to win in today’s rapidly evolving marketplace,” said Julian Veitch, vice-president of B2B oils and fats, North America, Bunge Loders Croklaan.

To learn more about the company’s latest offerings, IFT18 attendees can visit booth S3426 and sample products including brownies made with BungeMaxx sunflower lecithin and corn tortilla chips cooked in Whole Harvest non-G.M.O. soybean oil as well explore other ingredient solutions.
