When Khan and her cousin went to investigate the street market where they had been bought from, she was shocked to see a vendor crouched behind a stall using a can of Win spray paint to dye the fruit.
Footage taken by them shows the middle-aged man spin his head round as he notices the camera and smirks – before placing the grapes on the ground in a pile with other painted fruit.
The man doesn’t appear to be phased when he is questioned in the video. He simply continues spray painting and dying the fruit, presumably to make it appear more natural and boost sales.
Layla said she reported the incident to the local police force who have been approached for comment. It’s not the first time street vendors have been caught for altering food.
