Agrumaria Reggina, an Italian company specializing in providing fruit-based flavor solutions for the F&B industry, has launched Natural Spark, a premium portfolio of fruit and botanical extracts.
Established in 1985, Agrumaria Reggina supplies authentic and natural solutions to the food, beverage and flavor and fragrance industries. The company says this new portfolio is a testament to its “unwavering commitment to innovation and sustainability.”
Catalyst for natural platforms
The introduction of the European Regulation 2018/848 heralds a new era in the organic products sector.
Effective January 1, 2023, the regulation mandates the exclusive use of Natural “Fruit X” Flavours in organic products.
These are flavors where at least 95% of the aromatic ingredients originate from the named fruit, herb or botanical, as outlined in Regulation (EU) 2018/848 Chapter IV, Article 30, Paragraph 5 (a.iii) and Regulation (EC) No 1334/2008 Chapter III, Article 16.
Elevating flavor
Natural Spark portfolio is a collection of FTNF (From The Named Fruit) Flavors designed to elevate Flavour & Fragrance creations and F&B applications.
These extracts are derived solely from fruits and botanicals, devoid of any synthetic additives. The company says its state-of-the-art extraction techniques “ensure the preservation of the full spectrum of aromatic and flavor notes.”
“The Nature Spark line addresses the global needs of flavourists for natural extracts that can be used to develop ‘Natural X Flavours’ suitable for organic or premium beverages,” says Felice Chirico, head of sales and marketing.
“We are extremely excited to expand our portfolio and further establish ourselves as a reference point in the flavor and fragrance world.”
A symphony of flavors
The Natural Spark portfolio is segmented into three distinct families: fruit, citrus and botanicals.
In the fruit family, flavors include apple, blueberry, mango, passion fruit, peach, pineapple, raspberry and strawberry. In the citrus fruit space, flavors are bergamot, bitter orange, cedar, clementine, grapefruit, lemon, lime, mandarin, orange and pomelo.
In botanicals, cucumber and ginger are key flavors.
Applications & production tech
These extracts are mainly applied to flavor and fragrance creation and are directly incorporated into beverages and food.
The production technology is a bespoke process of extraction and distillation, tailored to meet the unique requirements of each flavor profile.
In 2021, the company inaugurated its first R&D center in Northern Italy, in the Lombardy Region. Its Taste Innovation Center focuses primarily on developing new products for the beverage industry, with forecasts to grow the company’s juice range and new beverages supporting immunity.
