Split was created through the meeting of award-winning chef and cycling enthusiast Jeff Mahin, restauranteur and business partner Christopher Meers, and elite performance nutritionist Dr. Philip Goglia. While spending years in the kitchen under the mantra that taste trumps nutrition, Mahin's health suffered as he juggled multiple restaurants and long hours. Through competitive cycling, he met Dr. Goglia, who changed his food philosophy: Eat real foods, eat balanced foods, and combine a nutritious fat with a nourishing carb to ensure pure, sustained energy.
Combining Mahin's love for fitness with this new food philosophy, the three set out on a new entrepreneurial adventure to bring to life what started out as a scribbled idea on a napkin. Mahin, Goglia, and Meers spent a year scouring the world for the absolute best all-natural pure nut butters and local fruit preserves, and then crafted them into a ready-to-eat, easy-to-use proprietary pack.
