Spokespeople for the Jammu & Kashmir ‘Right to Information Act’ movement have appealed to the state government to effectively compensate farmers affected by the recent, unexpected snowfall. They mention the apple growers, whose orchards were damaged, in particular.
“The snowfall has caused huge damage to apple trees in many areas of Kashmir, particularly in the upper reaches of the KulgamShopian, Baramulla and Budgam districts. In the villages of Batwodder, Kutbal and Branwar, more than 500 trees have been damaged, said RTI Chairman dr Raja MuzaffarBhat.
