US-based speciality food producer Stonewall Kitchen has acquired Spruce Naturals, the parent company for Napa Valley Naturals and Montebello, for an undisclosed sum.

Napa Valley Naturals is a premium brand of certified organic extra virgin olive oil, culinary cooking oil, Italian balsamic vinegar and aged wine vinegar, while Montebello is an artisan brand of organic pasta that is imported from Italy.

Spruce Naturals founder Kendall Cook said: “Partnering with Stonewall Kitchen is a natural and authentic fit for us.

“From our humble beginnings in the early 1990s, today both companies offer premium quality, clean-label products all across the country.

“After growing Napa Valley Naturals and Montebello on our own over the last few decades, I’m looking forward to working alongside Stonewall Kitchen to help accelerate the continued growth of both brands.”

Stonewall Kitchen CEO John Stiker said that Napa Valley Naturals is the top-selling olive oil item within the natural foods channel, as well as the number one brand of balsamic vinegar and wine vinegar according to SPINS data.

Stiker further added that Montebello is experiencing rapid growth.

“Delicious stand out products within their line such as the Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Expeller Pressed Avocado Oil, and Grand Reserve Balsamic Vinegar perfectly complement the speciality food categories we currently offer.”

In January, Stonewall Kitchen completed its acquisition of the Tillen Farms, a brand of cocktail garnishes, including uniquely-crisp pickled vegetables and delicious Pacific Northwest cherries.
