A nutrition label is a label on a prepackaged food label that provides food nutrition information and characteristics to consumers, including a list of nutrients, nutritional claims, and nutritional claims.

GB 28050 in China stands for the National Food Safety Standard for Nutrition Label Rules of Pre-packaged Food.

The basic requirements in GB 7718 also apply to nutrition labels.
The General Principles for the Labelling of Prepackaged Foods for National Food Safety Standards (GB 7718-2011) specifies the general requirements for labels for prepackaged foods, such as food names, ingredients, net content and specifications, names of producers and/or operators, Address and contact information, production date and shelf life, storage conditions, food production license number, product standard code, etc. Prepackaged food labels must meet the relevant requirements of the standard.
The labeling of the nutrition label shall comply with the relevant provisions of the National Food Safety Standards for Pre-packaged Food Nutrition Labelling (GB 28050-2011). It should be noted that the nutrition label is an integral part of the food label, so the basic requirements in GB 7718 also apply to the nutrition label.

Standard implementation should follow three principles
GB 28050 should abide by the following principles when implementing applications:
First, food production enterprises should organize production in strict accordance with laws, regulations and standards, in line with the requirements of nutrition labeling standards;
Second, the government is promoting the supervision and law enforcement methods with technical guidance and legal enforcement. If the nutrition label of prepackaged food is not standardized, the production enterprise should be actively guided to help find the cause and take improvement measures.
Third, the government is promoting the healthy development of the food industry. Food production enterprises should take measures to combine the requirements of nutrition labeling standards with production technology, management and management, gradually reduce the use of salt, fat and sugar, and improve the nutritional value of food. Promote the healthy development of the industry.

Mandatory labeling contents include four aspects:
GB 28050 stipulates that the mandatory labeling contents include four aspects, of which the first one is the most basic requirement, and the latter three are cases where mandatory marking is required under certain circumstances, which is a “conditional” mandatory clause.

1. Indicate the energy, macro-nutrient content and its percentage of nutrient reference value (NRV).
2. When nutritional claims or nutrient functional claims are made for nutrients other than energy and core nutrients, the nutrient content and its percentage of nutrient reference value (NRV) should also be indicated in the nutrient composition table.
3. Prepackaged foods using nutritional supplements, in addition to the requirements of 4.1, the nutrient content table should also indicate the content of the nutrient in the fortified food and its percentage of nutrient reference value (NRV).
4. When the food ingredients are contained or used in the production of hydrogenated and/or partially hydrogenated fats and oils, the trans fat (acid) content should also be indicated in the nutrient composition table.
