Chunwei, of Huntington Park, California, is recalling about 65,000 pounds of ready-to-eat and raw meat and poultry products because they contain the undeclared allergens soy, wheat, dairy, egg, and sesame, as well as monosodium glutamate (MSG). Anyone who is allergic to those ingredients, as well as anyone who has celiac disease, could have a serious reaction if they eat these products. No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reporters to the company to date.

These Chunwei products were produced on various dates from November 16, 2017 thorough November 19, 2018. You can see the long list of recalled products at the USDA web site. The products include Cooked Pickled Chicken Feed, Cooked Spicy Brined Duck Feed, Cooked Spicy Brined Pig Feet, Hunan Style Duck, Cooked Spicy Brined Beef Tendon and Shank, Spicy Pork Sausage, Garlic Pork Sausage, and Cooked Brined Duck Wings, among others. These products all had different undeclared allergens. The foods have the establishment number “EST. PO-8110” or “EST. 8110” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped to retail locations nationwide.

The issue was discovered during an FSIS routine label verification task. If you can’t eat soy, wheat, dairy, egg, or sesame, do not eat these products. Throw them away or return them to the store where you purchased them for a full refund.

FSIS is concerned that some of these products may be frozen in home freezers. The government is conducting recall effectiveness checks to make sure that the firm is notifying its customers about this recall, and that affected product is being recalled from stores. They will publish a retail distribution list when and if it becomes available.
