The first batch of tomatoes produced in Turkey has arrived at the Ukrainian market, according to analysts of the EastFruit project. As predicted earlier, the price paid for the first batches of imported tomatoes has ranged between 36 and 38 UAH / kg (1.3-1.37 $ / kg), depending on the volume.
Almost the entire Turkish tomato production has been sold through wholesale markets, since most supermarket chains have continued to work with the contracted volumes of domestic products.
According to market participants, stocks of Ukrainian tomatoes are still sufficient and active trade in these products will be possible at least for another 7-10 days. Nevertheless, it should be noted that the quality of these batches of domestic tomatoes are often far from the standard. By the end of this week, the prices for Ukrainian tomatoes have stayed at a fairly wide range of 20 to 35 UAH / kg (0.72-1.26 $ / kg).
The biggest players in the Ukrainian market expect the supply of Turkish tomatoes to gradually increase. From the beginning of December, these products should already make up the bulk of the supply in the Ukrainian market.
