There has been a stoppage in the general transportation service in the region of Uraba since Monday morning. It's main impact has been the interruption of flights from the Carepa airport, which serves the entire banana region.
The Communications Office of Airplan, which operates the Antonio Roldan Betancur airport, confirmed that no flights had departed the airport on Monday, November 26, as passengers had been unable to reach the air terminal.
The protest has also affected the banana industry, as the road that leads to the fruit pier and several producing farms has been blocked and the workers have been unable to go to work.
Trucks and special service buses, which reject the scrapping without replacement of their vehicles, are also participating in this strike, which takes place in the framework of the trucking strike announced several weeks ago.
This type of transport is fundamental in Uraba, as it is the only means of transportation that banana workers have to go to the producing farms.
In the evening, an audio in which a banana worker warned about the existence of a plan to attack the vehicles that provided public service with stones, as it then happened, went viral.
