“Our 'sugar sweet potato' comes from Yunnan Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture. The harvest season and sales season are August to December and October to February next year. The production season is running steadily this year. In general, the sales situation is still satisfactory,” said Hao Bo of Honghe Changmiaohe Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. in an interview with Freshplaza.

“Yunnan Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture is located in the southeast of Yunnan Province. The fertile land, less pests and diseases, stronger ultraviolet rays during the day and larger temperature difference between day and night create a natural growth cradle for the sweet potato in the region. This unique ecological environment is especially beneficial to the sugar accumulation of sweet potatoes."

“Compared with last year, this year our sales of 'sugar sweet potato' have increased, thanks to more demand from domestic and overseas markets, and on the other hand, to the increase in our acreage. In terms of price, the current selling price is basically the same as in the same period of the previous year and the fluctuation is not big."

“At this stage, through the online and offline parallel sales model, our 'sugar sweet potato' is exported to Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar and other Southeast Asia, Europe and the United States while being sold to the wholesale markets and supermarkets of domestic first- and second-tier cities. We also use online sales channels such as Wechat-business and e-commerce."
