Global dairy company Dutch Royal FrieslandCampina is planning to acquire speciality cheese vendor and importer Best Cheese Corporation USA.
Financial details of the transaction have not been divulged by both companies.
FrieslandCampina Consumer Dairy president Roel van Neerbos said: “As a part of our transformative strategy, we continue to focus on delivering the best product to serve consumer’s needs.
“The Americas is a strategic growth market for us. By acquiring Best Cheese and Jana Foods we will be able to grow our cheese business in the region further.”
Earlier this month, FrieslandCampina acquired cheese importer and distributor Jana Foods for an undisclosed sum.
Jana Foods imports and markets FrieslandCampina’s Dutch cheese in the US, and has been a strategic partner of the company for many years.
Headquartered in New York’s Westchester County, Best Cheese Corporation imports and sells speciality cheese brands and different Gouda styles made from cow, goat or sheep milk.
Best Cheese former owner Willem Jan Rote said: “The combination of Best Cheese’s USA position as an established speciality cheese vendor and the strength of FrieslandCampina as the leading supplier of Dutch Cheese, will take the success of our brands Parrano, Robusto and Melkbus to the next level.”
Upon completion of the transaction, Best Cheese will be fully integrated into the FrieslandCampina Consumer Dairy USA business.
FrieslandCampina noted that the former shareholders of Best Cheese, including the Dutch Investment Company Antea, will no longer be associated with the business.
In August, FrieslandCampina acquired the activities of Best Cheese Holland, which has now become part of the company.
