Armenian farmers agree that the import of tomatoes from Turkey into their domestic market is detrimental. According to the producers, these vegetable products enter Armenia through Georgia. The oversupply in the Armenian market provoked a sharp decline in prices.

Local farmer Varuzhan Khudedanyan: "The market price of 1 kg of  tomatoes from Turkey is 200 drams (€0.36)) below the cost of local tomatoes, therefore it cannot but harm the owners of greenhouses. Some farmers, including me, have suspended work because production has become unprofitable."

"We have a self-sufficient market, even when exporting products to other countries, but the government considers imported vegetables to be the best price regulator, which is unacceptable.”
