Campco, DK Milk Union to hold three-day Krishi Yantra Mela from Feb 23

Campco, Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, Puttur, and Dakshina Kannada Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union will jointly organise the fourth essay of Krishi Yantra Mela 2019 and Dream Home at the college campus between February 23 and 25.

In the past, the three entities have conducted three editions of the Yantra Melas in 2009, 2012 and 2015. Each of these attracted over two lakh visitors.

The main objective of the event is to showcase and create awareness about innovative machines and modern technology to the farmers. During the event, machine manufacturers and innovators in the field of agri-machinery will showcase their products. The latest areca peeling machines and equipment related to dairy farming will be put on display for the benefit of farmers. Visitors will get access to machinery and technological advancements of both local as well as outstation manufacturers under one roof.

There will also be seminars on various topics covering backyard farming, value addition in farming, encouraging the profession of farming, highlighting the profitability in dairy farming and low-cost housing.

Keeping in mind the importance of creating awareness amongst farmers in constructing low-cost cow sheds, usage of rubber-based floor mats, etc., dairy farming has also been included in the three-day event, during the course of which visitors will also get an opportunity to visit the leading  Campco chocolate factory.

In association with Puttur Association of Civil Engineers (PACE), Dream Home is also being organised along with Krishi Yantra Mela. Latest equipment, raw materials and designs used in constructing low-cost houses will be showcased at the mela. The main objective of Dream Home is to create awareness among people to use the best of the available resources in building the best-quality homes.

In order to create interest among students towards farming, the machines and equipment developed by the high school and college students will be displayed at the mela. The most innovative projects by the students will be awarded during the event. This mela is a good opportunity for different companies, innovators, manufacturers of agriculture-related machinery from all over India and overseas to exhibit their products and impress upon farmers to purchase and utilize them in farming and post-harvest operations. About three lakh visitors from Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu are expected to visit the event.
