In recent years, under the influence of healthy diet concept, skimmed milk powder has gradually become a good idea for many consumers. However, some people think skimmed milk powder is equal to zero fat milk powder, in fact, it is not. So, what's the matter?
It is understood that skimmed milk powder on the market is not completely fat-free, it is on the basis of whole-fat milk powder added a skimmed production process: more centrifugal method to remove fat in milk, but this method is difficult to remove all fat, and the more fat removed, the greater the cost and difficulty. Therefore, the fat content of skimmed milk powder is generally controlled at about 1% in dairy factories. The fat content of skimmed milk powder is relatively low, but not completely fat-free.
Many people choose skimmed milk powder because they fear that it will grow fat and unhealthy if they drink too much milk powder. But in fact, skimmed milk powder is not necessarily "excellent" than whole-fat milk powder. The main reasons are as follows:
1. The fat content of whole milk is not high. The fat content of whole milk powder is generally 3%~3.5%, which is much lower than the evaluation standard of high fat food (>20%). In addition, the lipids in dairy products have many benefits to human body, including lecithin, brain phospholipid and sphingomyelin, which play a very important role in the development of neurons in infants and young children.
2. Skimmed milk powder is not only to remove fat. When skimmed milk powder is used to remove fat, fat-soluble vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E and vitamin K will be removed along with fat, and the aroma existing in milk fat will also be lost.
When choosing milk powder, Jiang Jianhua, chief physician of Nutrition Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University, suggested that normal healthy adults can drink 250-500 ml of whole milk every day; for people with abnormal or obese blood lipids, it is suggested that blood lipids be tested once a year. As long as blood lipids meet the standard and atherosclerosis does not occur, they can safely drink about 250 ml of whole milk every day. Patients with basic cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases should drink skimmed milk.
