One train loaded with refrigerated containers full of Southeast Asian exotics, such as dragon fruit and longans, left the distribution center of Pingxiang Port in Guangxi on February 22nd, 2019. The train is headed for Shanghai. Pinxiang County borders Lang Son Province in Vietnam. This is the first time a refrigerated container train transports fruit between Pingxiang and Shanghai, or Vietnam and China.
The train consists of 25 refrigerated containers with diesel-electric power integration. The containers mainly carry fruit from Southeast Asia. They passed the border between Vietnam and China through the Friendship Customs and Quarantine Office. The containers were accumulated and then loaded onto the train to Shanghai. The entire journey measures 2,331 km and takes around 70 hours, which is around 50 hours shorter than regular railway transport of fruit on that route.
