Speciality food products distributor The Chefs’ Warehouse has acquired all of California-based Bassian Farms’ assets.

Financial details of the deal have not been divulged by both companies.

Established in 1995, Bassian Farms is a protein manufacturer and distributor in the metro San Francisco area.

The Chefs’ Warehouse chairman and CEO Christopher Pappas said: “I would like to welcome the entire Bassian Farms organisation, including founders Dan and Lee Bassian, into our growing family of companies.

“We believe that this acquisition further enhances our ability to deliver quality protein products while optimising our existing production and distribution capacity in Northern California.”

The acquisition accelerates The Chefs’ Warehouse’s speciality protein expansion on the West Coast.

For more than two decades, Bassian Farms has been supplying beef, poultry, pork and seafood products to restaurants in Northern California.

Bassian Farms co-founder Dan Bassian said: “We are a family company with a focus on providing quality and service to our customers.  Chefs’ Warehouse shares these values and will help us to expand upon our customer-centric business model.”

Bassian Farms is expected to generate approximately $50m in annualised net sales. Founded in 1985, The Chefs’ Warehouse distributes speciality food products in the US and Canada to menu-driven independent restaurants, fine dining establishments, country clubs, hotels, caterers, culinary schools, bakeries, patisseries, chocolatiers, cruise lines, casinos and speciality food stores.

In April 2017, Niman Ranch partnered with Chef’s Warehouse subsidiary Allen Brothers to co-brand their natural beef.
