Ostaad, which is set to open at Kamala Mills, Lower Parel, in March 2019, will introduce foodies in Mumbai to the cuisines of the Central Asian region, comprising Balochistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. It is the brainchild of Neeti Goel, who owns Madras Dairies and Keiba.
The menu will boast a variety of offerings, including Sheena kebab; Hakkari style pot roast chicken; Murgh pashtooni sheek; Kalem boregi (Turkberish crunchy rolls filled with feta, haloumi and parsley); Mushroom Baklawa, Spanakopita and Balochi sajji.
It also includes flatbreads, vegetables with exotic stuffing, rice dishes, grilled meats, and skewered kebabs, fresh cheese and salads. The meals served at the restaurant, which has a separate kitchen for vegetarian cooking and a separate Jain menu, will be accompanied by spice blends and sauces.
There will be three chefs at the 3,100-plus sq ft restaurant, which has a seating capacity of up to 100 patrons.
