OM Foods is recalling Organic Matters brand teas from the marketplace for possible Salmonella contamination. The teas were sold in British Columbia, Canada, and may have been sold nationally at the retail level. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

The teas are both Organic Matters brand. They include Organic Tulsi Tea Blend (Holy Basil), in 1 kg, 454 gram, and 113 gram sizes. The codes on that product are 25118, 31818, 35318, 02119, and 07319. That product does not have a UPC number. You can see more pictures of the recalled products at the CFIA web site.

The recall was triggered by CFIA inspection activities. The government is conducting a food safety investigation, and more products may be recalled. The CFIA is also making sure that industry is removing these recalled products from the marketplace.

If you purchased either of these tea products, do not use them. Throw them away after first wrapping them in foil or plastic wrap, and placing them into a secure garbage can. You can also return the teas to the store where you purchased them for a full refund.
