Johnsonville of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, is recalling about 95,393 pounds of its ready-to-eat jalapeño cheddar smoked sausage product because it may be contaminated with foreign materials, more specifically hard green plastic pieces. A consumer complaint prompted this recall. These pieces of plastic can pose an injury and choking hazard. The company has received no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of this product.

These jalepeno cheddar smoked sausages were produced and packaged on March 12 and March 13, 2019. The recalled product is packaged in a 14 ounce film, vacuum-packed package containing “Johnsonville Jalapeño Cheddar Smoked Sausage.” The best by date on the product is 06/09/2019. The sausage package has the establishment number “EST. 34224” printed inside the USDA mark of inspection. This product was shipped nationwide and internationally.

FSIS thinks that this products may be in consumers’ home freezers. Check to see if you have this product. If you do, discard it in a secure garbage can with a lid. You can also take the product back to the place of purchase for a full refund.
