US-based T & R Enterprise USA is recalling nearly 118,000lb of meat and poultry egg roll products.
According to the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the company has issued a recall as these products have been produced and packed under insanitary conditions.
The products that are subject to the recall have been produced on various dates beginning 1 August to 26 September.
Products that are part of the recall include 2oz cases containing 120 pieces of ‘Dai Kin Pork & Textured Vegetable Protein Egg Roll’, ‘Tita’s Pork & Textured Vegetable Protein Egg Roll’ and ‘Tita’s Chicken & Texture Vegetable Protein Egg Roll.’
The recall also includes 2oz cases containing 80 pieces of ‘silver label pork and vegetable protein egg roll’.
FSIS identified the issue during its routine food inspection activities. The products that are subject to the recall bear establishment number ‘EST 33792’ or ‘P33792’ inside the USDA mark of inspection.
They have been shipped to institutional locations in Georgia and Missouri.
So far, no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of the products have been received. Concerned consumers are urged to contact a healthcare provider.
The recall has been categorised as Class I, which indicates that consumption of the product could cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.
FSIS is also concerned that some products may be in restaurant freezers and advised restaurants not to serve the product.
In June, Ruiz Foods Products issued a recall of approximately 246,514lb of frozen, not-ready-to-eat (NRTE) breakfast wrap products containing bacon over possible contamination with extraneous materials, specifically small rocks.
