The team at Globehunters analysed 70 of the most visited cities in the world, and founded out which were the most vegetarian- and vegan-friendly. They found out that London was the best, followed by Berlin, Melbourne, Sydney, Vienna, Paris, Auckland, New York City, Barcelona and Madrid.

The factors on which the research were based were vegan-related Instagram hashtags; vegan/veggie restaurants; vegan-specific restaurants; average three-star hotel cost (in pounds); cost of a meal in an inexpensive restaurant; animal protection index rating (A being the highest), and environmental performance index score. Each city was ranked on the above factors and given a score out of 100.

The UK capital has 4,118 vegan/veggie restaurants, followed by New York City (1,631); Rome (1,630); Barcelona (1,353) and Paris (1,332). London has 152 vegan-specific restaurants, followed by New York City (131); Los Angeles (97); Ho Chi Minh City (91) and Toronto (86).

London, with 2,12,649 posts, was adjudged the best for Instagram hashtags. It also got an A in the animal protection index rating (as did Vienna and Auckland). Agra (18 pounds) was the best in terms of cost of a three-star hotel. Chennai (1.13 pounds) was the best in terms of cost of a meal in an inexpensive restaurant. Nice and Paris, with a score of 83.95 each, shared the top environmental performance index score.
