UK-based Mediterranean foods supplier Dina Foods is preparing for a Christmas boom in sales. The company hopes that its latest range will bring festive cheer to British consumers this year from baklawa to beetroot falafel, chocolate-dipped dates and cocktail pittas.
One of the top Christmas-sellers for the London-based family company is its selection boxes of baklawa, prepared using traditional recipes to the highest quality.
Sweet offerings
“These boxes make the perfect gifts all year round, but particularly at Christmas,” says Wilda Haddad, assistant general manager at Dina Foods.
Traditionally, sweet and crunchy baklawa are offered to friends and family at times of celebration, Haddad explains.
Dina Foods’ Filo Delights baklawa is another ideal product for Christmas. Handcrafted Filo Delights are available in festive variants, including mincemeat, mint and chocolate chip, orange zest and almond, walnut and ginger.
Filo Delights feature layer over layer of leaf-thin filo pastry, creatively shaped and filled with high-quality ingredients and finished to an authentic Mediterranean recipe in its manufacturing facilities.
“Our baklawa, Filo Delights and sweet finger foods sell very well at Christmas. Like most of our products, these are so versatile. They can be used on a variety of occasions. They’re great as canapé desserts, festive treats and are in demand as gift items.
Dates for days
Dina Foods also sees demand rise for its boxed range of premium Medjoul dates, including its pioneering “half dip” dates in chocolate over the Christmas season.
These Medjoul dates, the finest variety of dates, are sold in selection boxes branded “Dinalicious.” Options include dates stuffed with marzipan, orange peel and walnut, and the chocolate-dipped dates or plain natural dates.
“We also see a booming trade in festive nibbles, such as mini artisan cocktail pita breads, falafel and hummus over the season,” Haddad adds.
Cocktail-pitas can be filled with one of Dina Foods’ best-selling sweet potato falafel, thinly sliced on a bed of its hummus or baba ganoush, or one of the other savory Mediterranean delights for which Dina Foods is renowned.
Dina Foods also supplies a wide selection of wholemeal and white flatbreads and pita breads for party platters, including its Paninette flatbread, which can be sliced or used as a wrap.
New this year is the Tasty Goodness range trademarked by Dina Foods, which comprises three variants of flatbreads, namely seeded, sourdough and plain mini flatbreads.
All three of the breads are made using 50/50 wholemeal and white flour.
