Israel will export agricultural products to Bahrain by road, with trucks traveling through Jordan; a move that should significantly reduce logistics costs. The parties agreed to this in the framework of the signing of a diplomatic and economic cooperation agreement between the two countries on October 18 in Manama.

Bahrain is interested in the supply of Israeli food products for its citizens, as well as in the agricultural technologies that should allow them to grow these products in hot and desert conditions.

Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture Nahum Itsikovich said that the king of Bahrain wants to boost the development of his country's agricultural sector with the help of Israeli experience and technology.

"A working group will be formed with representatives of Israel and Bahrain that will cooperate to guarantee the food safety of their citizens," said Itsikovich. "We are ready to offer our colleagues the experience, knowledge and technologies that allow us to grow agricultural products in extreme temperature conditions."

Specialists from Bahrain will visit Israel to gain experience and knowledge on plant diseases and learn about the use of some agricultural technologies.

It is worth recalling that Israel and Bahrain signed a declaration of peace and cooperation and announced the establishment of diplomatic relations on October 18. The solemn ceremony took place in Manama, the capital of the Arab kingdom, where an official delegation of the Jewish state was welcomed.
