Core Tip: Milestone Fresh wants to become the first freight forwarder in the Netherlands with a climate-positive policy. In the future, CO2 emissions from traveled distances won't only be compensated.
Milestone Fresh wants to become the first freight forwarder in the Netherlands with a climate-positive policy. In the future, CO2 emissions from traveled distances won't only be compensated. They'll eventually even become ten percent climate-positive.

Milestone Fresh is a market leader in temperature-controlled shipments to and from Central America. This Dutch company offers clients a total supply chain solution for global logistics. It's also grown considerably in recent years.

With this initiative, Milestone Fresh wants to set an example for the logistics world. As soon as it's determined its environmental footprint, the company can move toward and plant more trees. That will result in it offsetting its CO2 emissions.

Measuring a climate-positive policy
To become the first climate-positive Dutch freight forwarder, Milestone Fresh must first map out how much CO2 its activities emit. GreenHouse Marketeers has been called in to do this. It will calculate all the company's transport movements' carbon footprint. Starting next year, Milestone Fresh will begin offsetting its CO2 emissions. They're going to plant bamboo in the Bamboo Village project in Uganda.

Sustainable vision
Milestone Fresh expects to further expand in the future. A sustainable vision is part of this, says company director, Co van Es. "We're a major logistics player. So, we have a responsibility to make the right choices when it comes to sustainability. We worked out our plans earlier this year, during the 'intelligent' lockdown. And we'll soon start compensating our global carbon footprint," he concludes.
