According to Aritao mayor Remelina Peros-Galam, the DA in Cagayan Valley has allocated P19 million (€342,000) for a proposed onion cold storage facility (OCSF) for the Federation of Aritao Farmers Onion, Garlic and Ginger Growers Association (FAFOGGA) through its High Value Crops Development Program. The establishment of an OCSF is expected to help and bring more profit to onion farmers in the town of Aritao.
Miss Peros-Galam praised and thanked the DA as the project will bring sustained benefits for the farmers in the municipality. “The OCSF will enable our farmers to store and preserve the quality of our onion, ginger and garlic products that they can sell at higher prices when the time comes, thereby bringing more profits for their family,” Peros-Galam said.
She assured her administration’s full support to the programs of DA for the benefit of farmers in the municipality, known as the onion capital of the province.
