As far as premium label blueOrange goes, Enrique Pedros-Frank of the Fruits Pedros company can report a great demand. "The brand comes from the Castéllon region of Spain. Each week we receive three pallets of Navelina oranges and 5-6 pallets of Clemenenules clementines. However, due to weather conditions, the calibers turn out to be somewhat smaller." Prices are at a medium level.
He said that specialty retailers, in particular, are showing a keen interest in the brand, despite the high energy and other costs. "Since we have had the brand in our range, we have seen higher demand year on year. In general, retailers continue to show great interest in high-quality products," Pedros-Frank said. The season began in late October and will run through June/July, depending on supply. He again has Clemenules on offer until January, followed by overseas mandarins of the Nadorcott variety from South Africa. Nevertheless, he will continue to sell low-priced goods. His customers also include weekly markets as well as the surrounding gastronomers.
