The peak of sales for Karmen field scales, designed to weigh and pack grapes directly in the fields, is now over, as table grape harvesting has begun in the production areas, and for many has even ended.
"It was a satisfactory year for orders," says Giuseppe Rescina. Compared to the previous year, we saw an increase in sales of more than 20%. We sold more than 600 units in 2023. This is an increase that we had already expected. In fact, August and early September were particularly busy. Many growers have decided to invest in professional equipment, in spite of the problems in the field caused by the weather and economic uncertainty. We now know that it facilitates harvesting and movement in the vineyard."
Although the Italian regions of Apulia and Sicily are the most concentrated, the Karmen scale is sold in many areas of Europe. "The companies really liked the product, especially after some adjustments that made the scale even lighter (it weighs only 3 kg), stronger (made of aluminum with a thickness of up to 6 mm) and powered both by rechargeable batteries and by 4 disposable styli. At the end of the season, we usually ask our customers about the best and the worst aspects of the scale in order to suggest possible structural and operational improvements."
