The ministry plans to improve bio-technology in the country in order to enhance soil structure and fertility. It also plans to introduce genetic re-engineering in crops production to avoid attacks by pests, reported Allafrica.com.
Okon Bassey Ewa said the ministry's agencies have been in partnership with the agricultural sector over the years and unless technological inputs are introduced into the agricultural sector, the country will continue to experience post-harvest losses and setbacks in the efforts to eradicate hunger.
Post harvest storage facility has been the bane of the country's agricultural produce, Ewa added.
Ita Okon Bassey Ewa revealed these plans when he received a delegation of the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF).
