Core Tip: The International Fishmeal and Fish Oil Organisation (IFFO) says 60% of the products made by its members come from well managed fisheries after Chilean and Norwegian facilities met its sustainability standards.
To be certified under its Global Standard for Responsible Supply (IFFO RS), fishmeal and fish oil factories must demonstrate sourcing from well managed fisheries and safe and traceable production.

Other fisheries to gain the IFFO RS certification include Peruvian Anchovy and Alaskan Pollock.

“This is another major milestone achieved in a very short time since the launch of the RS Standard by IFFO,”
said Andrew Jackson, IFFO technical director.

“It highlights both the responsible nature of our members and the demand for a credible certification scheme to allow our members to demonstrate responsible practices. We also have an Improvers Scheme to encourage non-RS members to work towards full certification and a Chain of Custody certification for value chain partners.”
