Core Tip: CP Kelco on June 5 filed a petition with the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. International Trade Commission that requested an investigation of xanthan gum imports into the United States.
The petition contained evidence designed to demonstrate that Chinese and Austrian xanthan gum is being sold into the U.S. market at below fair value.

“Xanthan gum imports have increased dramatically over the past several years due to what we believe to be unfair pricing practices of Chinese and Austrian producers,” said John Taylor, vice-president supply chain and logistics for Atlanta-based CP Kelco, a division of the J.M. Huber Corp.

CP Kelco offers Keltrol brand xanthan gum, which provides thickening and stabilizing abilities in such applications as salad dressings and syrups.
