USDA rates nearly two-thirds of pasture acres on average across Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Illinois, Missouri and Kansas at poor to very poor. The latest ratings compared with an average of nearly 49% in the two categories previous week.
Areas of severe drought stretch into Nebraska, Arkansas and western states. For the 48 continental states, 43% of pasture acres rated poor to very poor, compared with 34% a year ago when the southwest was hit particularly hard.
