Hard red winter wheat spot basis bids in the US Plains were steady to weaker on Wednesday, merchants said. A Kansas dealer dropped the basis 8 cents a bushel, but other locations were holding bids steady. Protein premiums for railcar wheat to and through Kansas City jumped 10 cents a bushel for wheat supplies with 13.80 percent protein and 14.00 percent protein, and rose 5 cents a bushel for 13.20- through 13.60 percent protein wheat. Kansas City September wheat futures were at $6.22 early Wednesday.
