Core Tip: Ingredients firm DSM has invested EUR20m at its Delft plant in Netherlands, in order to create spray drying capabilities for its Food Specialities division, which offers yeast extracts for savory food applications.
According to the company, this project would lower its dependency on third parties and accelerate the service to customers. It is also expected to lower 1 million road miles from its supply chain and cut down its green emissions by 650 tons.

The project has been cleared by the municipal government and is expected to be fully operational by the middle of 2013, reported Foodnavigator.com

Spray drying is the third and final stage of DSM's yeast extract process, the first being growing the yeast cultures and the second processing the primary yeast into yeast extract.

This move comes after the company announced its plans to invest €100m in the region in May. The amount was invested in three research and development facilities.
