Corn Chowder Recalled, May Contain Foreign Material

Core Tip: An Indiana firm is recalling 94,850 pounds of corn chowder soup varieties because they may contain foreign materials.
The company - Morgan Foods, Inc. of Austin, IN - issued a voluntary recall of 4 types of corn chowders after receiving complaints from two customers who said they found pieces of a marker pen in the product.

The soups were sold in 18.8 ounce cans, and include the following varieties: 

- "Hill Country Fare Chunky Chicken Corn Chowder," 
- "Wegman's Chunky Chicken Corn Chowder," 
- "Chef's Cupboard Chunky Chicken Corn Chowder" and 
- "America's Choice Chicken Corn Chowder Chunky" 

All products have a "best-by date" of "01 Mar 2014" stamped on the bottom of the can and were produced on February 29, 2012. The cans were distributed to retailers in trays of 12 with a case code of "B2912" on the tray. They bear establishment number "P-1469" inside the USDA mark of inspection on the label. 

The "Hill Country Fare Chunky Chicken Corn Chowder" product was shipped to retail stores in Texas. The "Wegman's Chunky Chicken Corn Chowder" product was distributed to retail stores in New York. The "Chef's Cupboard Chunky Chicken Corn Chowder" product was distributed to retail stores in Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin and the "America's Choice Chicken Corn Chowder Chunky" product was distributed to retail stores in Connecticut, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
