Similarly, the pork division also saw a rise of sales in 2012 by 14% to 46,764t (live weight), however prices decreased by 2% from $2.70/kg in H1 2011 to $2.65/kg in the first half of this year.
Meanwhile, figures in the meat processing division showed a decrease in sales volumes of 11% to 62,105t this year from 70,097t in H1 of 2011, predominantly due to the closure of an inefficient slaughtering facility in southern Russia, according to the company. Prices in the meat processing division on the other hand rose by 5% from $4.47/kg in H1 2011 to $4.70/kg in the first half of 2012.
Cherkizovo said its sustainable revenue and growth is down to its “vertically integrated structure, which includes grain storage facilities, feed production, livestock breeding, growing and slaughtering, as well as meat processing and integrated distribution”.
According to Cherkizovo, sales volumes in the poultry division for H1 of this year increased by 34% to 158,345 tonnes (t). However, poultry prices decreased by 4% from US$2.51/kg in H1 of 2011 to $2.40/kg in H1 of 2012. The company said the decrease was caused by a weakening of the rouble.
