Japan-based Family Mart Co, which owns Thailand's second-biggest convenience store chain, insists it will continue local operations.
An executive of Siam Family Mart Co, the local operator, said the company will continue to expand its network.
"While competition in the convenience store segment is heavy, there remains potential to grow," he said.
Family Mart has 713 branches in Thailand and 20,000 worldwide including stores in South Korea, China, Taiwan, Vietnam and the US.
Siam Family Mart is restructuring its management after two decades of operations and may seek a partner to compete against CP All, the market leader.
Three companies are eyed as potential partners _ Berli Jucker Plc, PTT Plc and Central Retail Corporation.
