Thai Singha beer brewer Boon Rawd will reportedly invest THB 16 billion ($518 million) in a new brewery and an upgrade of an existing production facility.
Boon Rawd will increase capacity in an attempt to secure domestic growth, according to a local news report.
The firm will reportedly spend THB6 billion to increase its capacity from 280 million litres per year to 1 billion litres and a further THB10 billion on a new 120 million litres per year brewery in either Prachin Buri or Ratchaburi province.
"We are looking at brand-building, with an eye to the AEC (Asean Economic Community) in 2015," Palit Bhirom-Bhakdi, Boon Rawd’s executive vice-president told The Bangkok Post.
Boon Rawd is Thailand’s leading brewer by volume with a 59% share. The market is currently dominated by domestic brands but the country’s growing beer consumption has prompted others such as SAB Miller and Asahi to target Thailand.
