Pactiv Canada, a subsidiary of US-based food packaging company Pactiv, has completed the acquisition of Interplast Packaging for an undisclosed amount.
Interplast Packaging, based in Terrebonne, Quebec, Canada, offers custom-labeled Recycled PET (RPET) egg cartons for customers throughout North America.
Pactiv president and chief executive officer John McGrath said the Interplast's RPET cartons range adds to Pactiv's existing molded fiber egg cartons line and would offer an environmental and sustainable alternative, specially for packers and retailers of label eggs.
"Much like we have done in other food packaging segments, Pactiv will now be able to offer solutions in multiple materials to the egg packaging market, providing this customer base with the opportunity for increased value," McGrath added.
Recently, Pactiv purchased the stock of North Carolina-based International Tray Pads & Packaging which manufactures a line of absorbent products used in packed point of meat, fish, poultry, and produce.
Pactiv operates 55 manufacturing facilities in seven countries and produces food service disposables and food packaging. It has over 12,000 employees.
