Krill oil firm Aker BioMarine has restructured its sales team after reporting strong international growth.

Australia was the stand-out territory for Aker as sales growth of 600% to 100,000 tonnes per year, prompting the reorganisation.

Aker, which harvests and sells omega-3-rich krill oil under the Superba brand, will shift Eric Anderson, currently the firm's US vice president of sales, to leader of a new global sales unit. Anderson will continue to manage the Superba brand in the US.

Todd Norton will replace Anderson as head of the firm's US business and Lalen Dogan will join the firm in the newly created role of head of Australian sales.

Anderson told Nutraingredients-USA that the Australian market had benefited from high quality, well positioned krill oil products.

"In Australia we think the market just skipped high concentrates. There are three companies down there that are actively promoting krill on television, and it’s that next generation, better-than-fish oil positioning that’s doing great,” he said.

Anderson will commence his new role on 1 October while Aker will join the firm on 15 October.
