It will be a huge challenge for the importers to sell the amounts that will arrive up until April. This was said by Lean van den Hombergh of Frankort & Koning. "We're dealing with a record supply. 500 containers of Brazilian melons are arriving in Europe per week, and this puts pressure on the market fast."
In week 36 the first melons arrived from Brazil for Frankort. According to Leon the price has been reasonably level and stable for the last few weeks, but it will be a tough job controlling those prices. "October and November are already usually difficult months and the weather conditions in Brazil have been exceptionally good, which made the melons grow even faster!"
According to the importer the quality is at a good level for all varieties. "The brix levels as well as the visible characteristics are fine."
