The Seatreat Restaurant on University Avenue in Charlottetown is getting a major makeover.
That includes a new look, new menu and a brand new name.
By the end of November it will be part of the Relish Gourmet Burgers chain of restaurants.
Rivers Corbett, co-founder and president of the chain, says his first franchisee on P.E.I. will be George Rashed, the current owner of Seatreat.
"He is doing a brand rehaul at the same location. He's basically keeping the same location,'' Corbett says.
There are about 10 locations in Atlantic Canada with five of them located in New Brunswick.
Rashed was taking training on Saturday and will be closing the doors on the Seatreat about three weeks prior to opening them as Relish Gourmet Burgers.
"We're going to go in and do what I call a lipstick change and it's going to emerge as Relish Gourmet Burgers.''
Corbett is obviously biased but he says there is noticeable difference between his burgers and those found at the standard fast-food spot.
"The food itself has been created by a gourmet chef . . . and we utilize ingredients people never even thought about combining together.''
Relish Gourmet Burgers will be up and running by the end of November.
"Nothing has gone up yet. We're in the design stage right now but little bits and pieces will happen. We'll close down for maybe three weeks and then do the overhaul from there.''
