UK-based supermarket chain Sainsbury's Supermarkets is recalling toffee apples as the product contains milk which is not declared on the label, according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

The FSA has issued an allergy alert and asked those with an allergy or intolerance with milk not to consume this product.

The product being recalled is Toffee apples by Sainsbury's, belonging to all date codes until 2 November 2012. It was distributed to Northern Ireland, Scotland and Northern England.

Sainsbury's noted that it has contacted the relevant allergy support organizations, which will inform their at risk members of the recall. In addition, it will display customer notices in stores, explaining the reason behind the recall and the steps customers can take if they have purchased the product.

Consumers who have bought the above product can return it to the local Sainsbury's store for a full refund. No other Sainsbury's products are known to be affected.
