Virgin Wines, a UK-based online wine merchants specializing in boutique and handcrafted wines from all over the world, is set to expand the business by signing up additional 100,000 customers to its current number of 250,000.
The online retailer has a collection of more than 600 wines and sells over 750,000 cases per year throughout the world.
Virgin Wines managing director Jay Wright told Harpers that the company is growing rapidly with 100,000 customers signed up in the past year and expects the same in the next one year.
According to Wright, Australia is the top selling country, followed by France, Spain, Germany and Chile.
Wright said people try lots of different wines from lots of different places and it is more about the style.
"It's about giving people lots of different ways to get their wines," Wright added.
"We still do paper-based mailing and over-the-phone orders. Online is important but it's important to be able to talk to people and give people a whole range of ways to buy wine and make it easy."
