Monster Beverage, a marketer and distributor of energy drinks and alternative beverages, has reported 15.4% rise in gross sales to $632.3m for the third quarter ended 30 September 2012 compared to $548.1m in the prior year period.
Net sales for the reporting period rose 14.2% to $541.9m from $474.7m in the same quarter a year ago.
Operating income for the 2012 third quarter increased 6.5% to $140.7mn from $132.1m in the same quarter last year.
Net income was up by 4.6% to $86.1m from $82.4m in the 2011 comparable quarter.
Chairman and chief executive officer Rodney Sacks said that the energy drink categories in the US and Europe continue to experience positive growth rates, with the Monster Energy brand increasing in excess of such category growth.
"While the Company achieved less robust growth in sales dollars than in previous quarters, gross sales for the Company in October 2012 increased by approximately 28 percent over the same month last year," he added.
"We are continuing to plan launches in new international markets later this year and in 2013."
Monster Beverage markets and distributes energy drinks, non-carbonated coffee + energy drinks, non-carbonated espresso energy drinks, non-carbonated rehydration energy drinks, energy shots, iced teas, natural sodas, apple juice and juice blends, multi-vitamin juices, vitamin enhanced waters, and probiotic drinks.
